📢 Important: Upcoming Microsoft 365 System Change - Please Back Up Your Data

Dear CTI Students,

 As part of our ongoing Microsoft 365 system upgrade, Canterbury Technical Institute (CTI) will soon complete its transition to a new independent Microsoft 365 environment (tenant).

 This change will take place after domain cutover scheduled for Saturday, 15 November 2025. After this day, your current student email account (ending in @cti.qld.edu.au) including Outlook, OneDrive, and Teams under the old system will no longer be accessible.

 ⚠️ Note: This notice applies only to students who actively use their CTI school email account (e.g., for sending/receiving emails or using Teams, OneDrive). If you do not use your CTI email account, you may safely ignore this message.

 What This Means for You

  • Any emails, attachments, or files in your current mailbox will not be transferred to the new system.
  • This includes data stored in:
  • Outlook - your emails and attachments
  • OneDrive - your personal cloud files
  • Teams - chat messages and shared files
  • Please make sure to back up or save any important data before 15 November 2025.

 Your New Student Email Account

  • Email address: same as before (your studentnumber@cti.qld.edu.au)
  • Temporary password: Office365 (You will be asked to change your password at first login.)
  • You can access your new mailbox at https://outlook.office.com

 What You Should Do Before 15 November

  • Sign in to your current (old) school email account.
  • Download or forward any important emails, OneDrive files, or Teams data you wish to keep.
  • Ensure you have backed up all necessary data before 15 November 2025.
  • Start using your new mailbox after the cutover date.

 💾 How to Back Up Your Data

  • Outlook (Email)
  1. Sign in at https://outlook.office.com.
  2. Open the email(s) you want to keep.
  3. Save important emails as PDF: click Print → Save as PDF, or forward them to your personal email address.
  • OneDrive (Files)
  1. Go to https://onedrive.live.com.
  2. Select the folders or files you wish to keep.
  3. Click Download to save them to your computer or personal cloud drive.
  • Teams (Chats & Shared Files)
  1. Open Microsoft Teams.
  2. Go to Files tab in each team/channel you use.
  3. Download or copy any shared files you wish to keep.
  4. Note: Teams chat messages cannot be exported; take screenshots if you need to keep important info.

 💡 Tip: Save your backups to your personal storage (USB drive, Google Drive, or personal OneDrive) for easy access later.

 What Happens Next

  • Until 14 November: You can still access and back up your current account.
  • After 14 November: Access to the old account will be closed, and you will begin using your new CTI Microsoft 365 environment.
  • All new emails and data will be stored in the new system afterward.

 Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we move to this upgraded system.


PUBLIC HOLIDAY - 06/10/2025 - CTI Campus Closure

Operations and classes will resume as usual on Tuesday, 07/10/2025 onwards.

Your feedback is important to us - STUDENT SURVEY, October 2025

It's that time of the year! Our student survey is now due and available on myCTI for eligible students, i.e., students who have completed atleast 3 months within their course become eligible for the survey.

Please be advised that the survey is mandatory and must be completed to access your course material & resources.  

This is a reminder for the same.

Once you complete the survey, please log back into your myCTI account to access the course materials. Please allow up to 15 minutes to access the same.

FALSIFICATION OF MEDICAL CERTIFICATES - WARNING

Dear Students,

There has been a recent increase in submission of invalid medical certificates to obtain an "Excused" remark from attending scheduled classes at Canterbury Technical Institute (CTI).

Please note that CTI does not tolerate this act of document falsification and committing such an unscrupulous activity will impact course enrolment status.

CTI will be compelled to report this misconduct within the Department of Home Affairs portal as well as notify any other relevant authorities.

Hence please ensure that only valid and true documents are submitted.

Unauthorised alteration of documents could result in 10 years imprisonment under the Crimes Act.

The Department of Home Affairs – Online Survey for temporary migrant workers – international students

Dear Students,

The Australian Government is conducting research into temporary migrant workers in Australia. The research findings will help inform an education and information campaign for temporary migrant workers and employers about workplace rights and visa obligations, as well as recent reforms that strengthened migrant worker protections.

In light of the exploitation of the protection visas, the Australian Government would like to ensure correct information about Protection visas reaches international students and other temporary visa holders so they: 

• understand that Protection visas are for asylum seekers, not for people who just want to stay longer in Australia to work 

• are aware of the adverse consequences of lodging a non-genuine Protection visa application 

• don’t fall prey to migration scams or unlawful providers of immigration assistance.

Gold Coast Campus - We are hiring!

CTI is looking for a Student Services Officer to join our Admin team in a Part Time (Casual) role on the Gold Coast Campus. We would love to extend this opportunity to our students first.

The responsibilities of the Officer will be performing/assisting in (but not limited to):

 Reception Duties:

  • Phone calls
  • Orientation process
  • Student Attendance
  • Assist with course progress processes
  • Assist with Student Request Processes
  • Filing
  • Effective Communication
  • Assist with student certification processes
  • Liaise with relevant CTI staff
  • Quality assurance (pertaining to tasks undertaken only)


Candidate must exhibit the below qualities:

  1. Confident in communicating and delivery of information to relevant staff in daily tasks.
  2. Attention to detail.
  3. Reasonable experience with working through huge data reports.
  4. Empathetic and assertive.
  5. Efficient.
  6. Ability to grasp processes and where applicable contribute/suggest improvement.
  7. Team player as well as able to work individually.


  • Commencement: Immediate

  • Days: 3 days per week

  • Rate: $25 per hour + super (casual position)
